2025 Golf Croquet Championship Round-Up
The 2025 Croquet Australia Golf Croquet Championships have concluded after a week of top-class competition at Lake Macquarie Croquet Club and surrounding venues. Players showcased precision, skill and resilience in challenging conditions, producing thrilling contests across all events.
GC Gold Medal

Western Australia’s Gary Phipps claimed the GC Gold Medal, defeating Queensland’s Addison Matthews in straight games (7–6, 7–4). Matthews had earlier bested Phipps in the round robin, with both players finishing on four match wins. Their final was a thrilling display of tactical play and consistency.

The women’s event began with 36 players, and ended with Alison Sharpe (NSW) successfully defending her title. Sharpe went through the tournament undefeated, sealing the championship with a clinical win over Robyn Dart (WA) (7–4, 7–1). Her precision and strategic control throughout the event were on full display.
GC Men’s Singles

The men’s draw featured 42 competitors and came down to an all-WA final. Chris McWhirter overcame Gold Medalist Gary Phipps in a thrilling three-game contest (2–7, 7–6, 7–5), demonstrating spectacular hoop jumping and resilience. Both players had to overcome tough challenges to reach the final, making the result all the more impressive.

The Interstate Shield came down to the wire, with NSW snatching victory from WA on the final day.
