The 2025 Croquet Australia AC Open delivered another outstanding competition as players from across the country contested the prestigious Singles and Doubles titles. With exceptional performances, tight scorelines, and impressive displays of tactical skill, the event once again showcased the depth of talent in Australian Association Croquet.
Doubles Championship
This year’s Doubles final saw a familiar name return to the top of the podium.
Chris Borlase, who previously won the Australian Open Doubles title in 2004, secured the championship once again - this time alongside Michael Gidding. The pair delivered a commanding performance with 7 wins and 122 net hoops, demonstrating outstanding teamwork and consistency throughout the event.
Finishing close behind were Stephen Pearce and Trevor Bassett, also on 7 wins, but with 118 net hoops, making the battle for the trophy one of the closest in recent years. The quality of play throughout the doubles competition set a high standard for the rest of the tournament.
Singles Championship
In a gripping best-of-five final, Trevor Bassett reclaimed the Australian Open Singles title - 21 years after his previous victory in 2004. Bassett defeated Callum Hyland in a memorable final series with scores of:
14/26, 26/25, 26/20, 1/26, 26TP/10
The match featured strong strategic play, momentum swings, and excellent positioning from both competitors.
The Plate division saw consistent and confident play from Kerri-Ann Organ, who secured the title and added her name to the list of standout performers at the 2025 event.
