This important event was held at 2pm at "The Bassett Ranch" in Kyabram on the new croquet lawn of course.
Friday afternoon when we arrived the place a buzz with activity, Claire was adding finishing touches to the tables while Trevor was running around with his long "to do" list checking things off methodically. Nothing was being left to chance; this wedding was going to go without a hitch (they were the only ones to get hitched in this operation!). I wondered what Trevor was going to do about the weather as rain was forecast for early Saturday afternoon.
This wedding was always going to be unique and Claire's arrival was the start, on a 4-wheel motor-bike with her bridesmaid sister dinking on the back. The girls were greeted by Claire's father, along with flowergirl Breanna and pageboy Lachy (part of the newly inherited in-law family).
The wedding party created quite some interest as Claire again provided some surprises having one bridesmaid and two bridespersons - her brother and an old school friend. Trevor went conventional (well nearly); he had his brother, a school friend and an "old" croquet friend as his groomsmen. They all looked very dapper in their finery.
There was much food and drink to be had after the ceremony, while the photo session progressed. This had to be seen to be believed - my family / your family / my siblings / your siblings / all the nieces and nephews/ with mum / with dad/ and of course with the croquet players. Trev called groups with military precision. They will no doubt have a wonderful collection of beautiful memories of the day. They even offered a prize for the best photo entered in their competition!
The reception was held in a marquee on the tennis court - where everyone was happy to reside to as the weather became more inclement by the minute soon after the ceremony. Trev forgot nothing, the heaters were needed and the marquee was soon toasty warm.
The meal was a spit roast which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Dessert was a surprise - individual decorated cup cakes, part of the wedding cake, and, wait for it . "Mr.Whippy" arrived to provide soft serve ice cream to add to the dish.
The speeches were short sharp and shiny and then many graced the dance floor, delighted to hear the pitter patter of rain drops on the roof.
A most enjoyable time was had by all and I am sure it was a day Claire and Trevor will treasure forever.
