Many croquet players, s particularly from
NSW are today very happily wielding croquet mallets crafted by Jim Hicks from
Urunga, NSW.
Jim made his first mallet, then as a hobby,
some 15 years ago and found that not only did he enjoy the experience but also
his friends were impressed with the balance, weight and appearance. What
started as a hobby now turned into business so that Jim could keep up with the
demand he had created.
One of the nice things about buying a
mallet from Jim was you also received a personnel note from him telling you
what type of timber your new mallet was made from, what it weighed and how to
look after it.
Now 15 years later and many many mallets
later, Jim has decided that it was time to hang up his plane or whatever he
used to such great effect over the years.
To continue to provide a source of good
mallets at reasonable prices, Jim has agreed to now stock mallets made by
George Wood from NZ.
Well done Jim and thanks for your
contribution to Australian Croquet over the years.
