2011 AC Men's & Women's Championships
Information

Men’s Championship at Launceston, Tasmania

Eight lawns will be used at Launceston.  Two will be at the existing Launceston clubs,  one at Royal Park in Park Street, and one at  East Launceston on High Street.  Six will be at the Northern Tasmanian Croquet Centre, a completely new venue within the St Leonards Sports Centre which also hosts Athletics and Hockey.  St Leonards, a small village, is situated about 5 km South East of the city centre and is well signposted, as is the Sports Centre.  A local plan showing all venues associated with the Championships will be available at Registration, or by mail if requested in advance. (   or 03 6395 1048)

There is plenty of accommodation in Launceston available via the internet and those near the centre are recommended as Launceston is a compact city with most restaurants etc. within reasonable walking distance.   However, personal transport will be necessary between venues.

Registration will be at the Northern Tasmanian Croquet Centre from 2.00 on Friday 18th when the lawns will be available for practise.  At 5.30 that evening there will be a Civic Reception at the Town Hall in the city.  Invitations for this reception are being sent to all competitors.

Play will start the following morning at 8.00 at all three venues.

An evening meal has been organised, for those interested, at a hotel down the Tamar Estuary.  Numbers will be sought at Registration.

Sadly, competitors are hardly likely to have the opportunity to visit the many excellent restaurants, and the vineyards, in the local vicinity, but perhaps their partners will.   Another time perhaps?

Women’s Championship At Hobart, Tasmania

The Championship will be played at the 4 Hobart clubs -  New Town (headquarters) Sandy Bay, Eastern Shore and Kingston.  New  Town and  Sandy Bay have 3 courts and Eastern Shore and Kingston 2 each. The Clubs are all within a short drive of each other. A Local plan showing all venues associated with the Championships will be available at registration.

Registration is at the Eastern Shore Croquet Club ( 57 South St, Bellerive ) from 3 pm on Friday 18th March. Courts will be available for practice from that time.  A welcome function and BBQ will follow at 5 pm (Cost $10 each).

The ACA Gold Medal will be played at the Sandy Bay Club (Long Point Road Sandy Bay)  from Wednesday 16th to Friday 18th March. There is plenty of accommodation available in Hobart via the internet and a central location will enable easy access to venues.
