GC Rule Change Trial

Golf Croquet Rule 16
Change for GC Handicap Event in WA, 9-13 October 2010

It has been apparent for some time that lower handicapped players have a better than even chance of winning under the conditions of Rule 16(d): "No point may be scored for the striker's side in an extra turn".  Canada has deleted this condition from the Rule for two years with better results, and New Zealand intends that their entire 2010/2011 season will be conducted by deleting Rule 16(d). As a trial, this tournament will be conducted with Rule 16(d) deleted in order to provide more data and to determine the effect under Australian conditions.  It is expected that higher handicap players will then have a more equal chance of success.
Results from this trial will be evaluated, in cooperation with New Zealand, to determine whether there should be a permanent change to the Rule.

Australian Handicap cards are to be used for all singles games. Results will be used for handicap purposes.
